I've been a lover of words and stories since before I could read and write on my own — some of my very first stories were dictated to my Grammy, who wrote them down for me to illustrate. Since then, I've written multiple novels, short stories, scripts, and personal essays, and edited countless others.
I received an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Stony Brook University with a thesis in Young Adult Fiction in 2016 and took classes in genres including YA, poetry, narrative non-fiction, memoir, novel writing, screenwriting, and playwriting. It was during the course of the MFA program that my love for editing began to develop as I learned how to identify the heart of a narrative and objectively evaluate the pieces of the whole to determine what's working, what isn't, and how to revamp them to perform even more effectively.
My favorite genres to developmentally edit are romance and young adult, where hope and excitement and love and adventure are front and center (but let's not forget about a healthy dose of angst for balance!). My favorite non-fiction subgenre to work with is memoir and narrative non-fiction. I'm comfortable working with all genres except high fantasy and heavy sci-fi.
Since 2019, I have developmentally edited more than 20 full-length romance novels featuring various tropes and themes, all of which have hundreds of reviews on Amazon with 4.6 star averages or higher. While those works can't be shared directly due to NDAs with those clients, I'm happy to answer any general questions you may have about these works!
