As a general rule of thumb, my editorial services are perfect for someone who has a completed manuscript. What level of complete is up to you — first draft, fifth draft, twelfth draft — but because my developmental editing services approach each work holistically, a manuscript that does not have a completed narrative arc may not be the best fit.
If you're struggling to complete your manuscript and need additional guidance and support to reach the finish line of your first draft, check out my writing coach services!
This service is for a writer who wants to dig into the nitty gritty details to make the big and little moments pop. In addition to a detailed letter summarizing big picture feedback, you'll receive comments and suggestions throughout the body of your manuscript on specific moments of pacing, dialogue, character development, POV, voice, emotional logic, etc. — both when something is working really well, and also when something might need some tweaks to make the beats shine.
This is perfect for writers who feel confident about the big picture elements and want to focus on polishing the nuances — OR you are ready to do a comprehensive deep dive on your project and want to tackle all aspects at once.

This service is for a writer who wants broad strokes developmental editing. You'll get specific and detailed feedback on all the elements of your manuscript (plot, pacing, character development, POV, voice, emotional logic, etc.) in a letter at the end of the manuscript. You'll also receive some specific notes in moments that are directly related to the big picture feedback, but won't receive detailed, nuanced moment-by-moment feedback throughout the entire body of the story.
This is great for writers who feel confident in the nuances of their project but want to make sure the big picture is coming together perfectly — OR, if you think your big picture might need some work, so you don't want more detailed feedback yet on aspects that might change significantly!

This service is for a writer who is at the end stages of their manuscript development — your plot is solid, your character development is shining, and you're just about ready to release your project into the world. The copy edit focuses on readability, spelling, punctuation, grammar, basic fact checking, ensuring consistency in basic story elements (names and other similar details), and ensuring that style guidelines remain consistent throughout.
$.006/word*
*Note: Proofreading, which is generally a final pass of a copy edited manuscript to correct any remaining errors such as typos, spacing issues, etc., is also available for $.004/word a la carte or $.003/word as a package with copy edits.
Do you have a manuscript and some doubts? Maybe you're not sure if the story is viable, if the conflict is compelling enough to sustain a reader's interest over the course of a novel, if the romance is sizzling the way you want it to be.
If you're looking for a second opinion, a feasibility overview is perfect for you! You'll receive a written overview of what's working and what could be more effective, along with my thoughts on potential marketability! You will not receive suggestions for edits with the feasibility overview.
